Right, firstly..like many other British lads on here im fed up people dis-respecting Ricky Hatton and his career so far,
Every ****ing yank on this forum is making up excuses whenever he wins a fight 'he clinched too much ' 'Tszyu was past his prime ' ' Collazo was robbed ' it's all bull****. Hatton beat Tszyu through shear workrate, skill, strength and power..don't give me this **** about him fighting so many rounds in so many years, the fact is..before Hatton fought Tszyu alot of you on this forum was saying he had no chance against Kostya. You was all saying how Ricky was overrated by us English guys etc, and now what? 3 years on your still spouting the same old bull****. The fact is Ricky beat Kostya..in fact he gave him such a beating he quit on his stool because he couldn't take no more. Kostya at the time of facing Hatton was in everybody's p4p list so stop making up excuses and trying to make Ricky out to be some overrated fighter..because he isn't,
After Ricky fought Tszyu he decided to unify the title's and he went up against Carlos Maussa, sure he wasn't the best of fighters but again Ricky was fighting for a world title against an awkward style of a fighter in the Colombian..Ricky at that time was having a lot of problems with his promoter (Frank Warren) and went into the ring against Maussa in the wrong frame of mind just wanting to knock his head off..It wasn't the best performance of Ricky's career but he dominated Maussa from start to finish before catching him with one of the sweetest left hooks i have ever seen in the 9th round knocking him out..so there we have it, the belts were unified.
Ricky decided to vacate the belts so he could move up in weight to 147, after long negotiations it was decided that Ricky was going to America...no fighters wanted to face him in his fortress - Manchester so he came to them. Ricky and his promoters were looking for a fighter to go up against but one or two pulled out of negotiations so after a long long while HBO decided Ricky would go up against ANOTHER world champion in Luis Collazo, a slick southpaw ( who Ricky has always struggled against through out his career ). Many saw it as an unneccessary risk for the Hitman and he could take it easier on his debut fight in the States, Anyway, after only managing to have 7-8 weeks preperation the fight happened and it was a tough fight for Ricky probably his toughest to date, but guess what? yes, thats right ' ****man Fatton ' won on points and was the new WBA welterweight champion of the world. Despite putting in a lacklustre performance Ricky was world champion again. Do you see what i'm getting at here? Ricky had been fighting badly...yet he still beat a world champion..anyway, moving on..
Ricky decided 147 wasn't for him, so he vacated the belt he beat Collazo for and moved back down to 140..this was Ricky's division and no one can say otherwise..he had dominated every fighter through out his 140lb career and was the man to beat.
Next we have Juan Urango. A powerful southpaw (again) who was undefeated (17-0-0) you all know the saying ' undefeated fighters don't know how to lose ' right? anyway..Ricky was again coming out of Manchester and taking it across the pond to America..again, against a tricky awkward fighter for his old titles, so again in his FOURTH straight fight he was fighting for a title. Anyway, Ricky dominated the first 1-6 rounds and simply felt it was job done which maybe he shouldn't have..he let his foot off the gas in the later rounds thats for sure and was very intelligent and used his experience when knowing when to hold and when not too. So again, Ricky didn't fight as we all know he can do but still, HE WON AGAIN!
You see? Ricky Hatton in his last two fights hasn't hit his peak as British fans know he can, yet he has still beaten FOUR world champions in his last FOUR fights including a world champion southpaw in a new weight division and also an undefeated southpaw for his old titles..Ricky Hatton gets alot of unfair criticism from some Americans on here and it aint right, maybe it's because he's English and not American? i don't know..but there quick to put him down.
Oh yeah also, there's some people on this forum who STILL aint satisfied that his next fight is Jose Luis Castillo, i find it laughable that he just never seems to be able to get it right with some. I'm allready looking forward to hearing your excuses when Ricky beats him..Ricky Hatton is an elite fighter and definitely in the top 10 p4p fighters in the world. The fact that he's come across to America for top fights shows he has some balls and that he wants to prove to the world what we in Britain allready know....this guy is special, he has the heart and desire to beat anybody in world boxing including Floyd Mayeather. I don't care wether you guys think he can or he can't the fact is I guarentee you that whenever these two meet ( if they do ) you will all be eating your words.
