The top active pro boxers put in just as much work as other athletes do. Its up there with American football and basketball as the sports with the best athletes. I try not to put one above the other because in each sport the athletes do amazing things.

I do think that boxers are the most conditioned athletes in the world. A good example is Ngdou, the guy that fought on Sat. night was said to have completed marathons. He was dead tired at the end of the fight and Castillo looked ready to go for 15.

              Tell them this.

Basketball and soccer players are nothing with out a team with skill.
Football players get a lot of rest and there is 3 teams with in a team. Defence offence and special, boxer does it all.

Explain to them that in boxing you have to be smart. Sure after many fight you will have loss brain cells but you have to be able to adjust (like in other sports, but unlike other sports a failure to adjust it can cost you your life.

You play soccer, you play football, you play basketball, you don't play boxing.

no dude thats not what I mean. a boxer traines for a fight, fights then rests.. sometimes other athletes are out on the road playing one game after another.. how many games are in a basketball season? or a football season.. I don't watch those two sports but I do know that your getting man handled out there also on the football field. True they rest every down but then they do it for entire seasons.. thats kind of what I ment. As of conditioning I know it takes a whole lot to go 12 rounds.. the first time I fought someone (backyard status) we were out of it by the third round and we only went four because of it.

Boxing is so great because its a one man's personal achievement and legacy, unlike basketball where its a 5 man team game.

                    Moy said it best......
You play soccer, you play football, you play basketball, you don't play boxing.
If a player gets hurt or TIRED, sombody takes there place. If a boxer gets hurt or is tired then he's ****ed cause nobody can take his place.
