Who out of all the greats would you have liked to fight ?

ICE: To tell you the truth I never even once in my life pondered this question. I did however come close on two occasions to sparring with Sugar Ray Leonard and Felix Trinidad but both times something came up and it didn't come to be. I sparred with Roy Jones and James Toney so that's comparable

If you had moved up to HV how would you have fought Tyson if you had to fight him?

ICE: I wouldn't move to HVY and I wouldn't fight Tyson LOL But I think boxing him and tying him up, not letting him get set is the overall best approach.

Who do you like to watch today ?

ICE: I don't watch boxing very often.... I like to see Winky, though, and Trinidad when he fights is always fun to watch. Mayweather for his boxing mastery.

If you could have trained or been trained by anyone other then your own trainer who would you have picked ?

ICE: Most people other than the trainer I had for a good portion of my career would have been steps up LOL. From what I have heard I think a guy like Eddie Futch or Georgie Benton would have been good.. guys that knew the subtleties of the game were always to my liking. I like the little movies, the subtle moves that separate fighters.

Who did you really want to fight but never got the shot ?

ICE: I would have always liked a rematch with Michael Nunn.

Was there ever a time where you really disliked your opponent or was it all business ?

ICE: The only time that really happened to me was as an amateur with a guy who beat me and then before our rematch he acted very ****y...it was a CRAZY story that led up to it all.. I have a whole section about it in my book... I won the rematch in dramatic fashion and it was DEFIITELY my emotions that carried the fight.

Do you think boxers should change trainers and style or just stick with what works ?

ICE: Changing trainers is often a needed thing. definitely.

How would you have fought Ali if you had to ?

ICE: With Ali... who really knows.. you obviously cant stay on the outside.... in his prime I think a guy like Chuvalo had the right idea but he didn't have the speed to pull it off. Get Ali/Clay out of his game or he has his way.

Thank you, I always wanted to ask you . The reason I asked about Tyson was because I remember Bobby Czyz during Tyson Vs Mathis jr was asked the same thing and pretty much said the same . He said that he would try to get under him and fight small because Tyson mostly fought people far bigger and wouldn't be able to hit as hard punching down at him .
The trainer part I asked because if heard people say that Da La Hoya and other change trainers to offten and changing a style 'when in your prime' is a bad idea.

John, why did you fight Willie Kemp 3 times? You won all 3 fights.

Well, the first time we fought he had just (23 days earlier) stopped IBF # 8 ranked Adam Garland so that was an important fight. The rematch was just a good co-feature on an off-TV show in Massachusetts. The third time was out of my hands...my original opponent fell sick the day before the fight and Willie was the only guy they could get on short notice.

Actually McCluskey was a pretty tough guy... I first met him when he was in camp sparring with Roy Jones Jr. The first time we fought (on the undercard of Jones-Castro) I outboxed him very easily. The second time, though, even though I stopped him in 4, he gave me a very tough time, he was very cagey and awkward. Funny you mention him because I talked to Hopkins the other day at the James Toney fight and I mentioned McCluskey to him and Hops said "McCluskey had a haaaard head, didn't he??""

yeah the main reason i mentioned him is that i saw a pic with you, him, Reggie Johnson, Roy Jones, and Buster Drayton. that would be cool to train with all them, i bet you guys had alot of fun?

The only bad thing I see about boxing is that its sorta a lonely sport. I played H.S. Football (American) and wrestling H.S. and College D1 and when all was said and done I enjoyed the comraderi and friendships.

Boxing seems kinda soliatry, did you find this the case Scully?
