McClellan's career was over before it began.

Come on guys. McCllenan did not prove himself in multiple weight divisions against so many quality champions and contenders as Robinson did. There is no comparison, you can't even make an argument that he was anything near Robinson status IMO. If you can say that about McCllenan, someone else could say that about any very good fighter in the last 10 years.

I appreciate that you guys are fans of a guy most hate (and have a reason to dislike really, when you take the time to investigate his well known cruelty to dogs) and can seperate a guy's outside life from his boxing career, but McCllenan never distinguished himself as anything more than a talented, very good fighter.

i mean from his explosiveness.. the way he carried power with his fluid combinations 2 hand power.. technically he had it all.. the only other fighter that precise with power was ray robinson.. he owned pitbulls i never could find any info that he faought them.. roy jones owns over 40 pitbulls

He did have almost everything, power, speed, granite chin (he took Jacksons and Benns best shots). But his defence against Benn was very poor.

To be compared to SRR u have to fight and beat everyone out there, and McClellan lost to Benn.
He was winning he fight on the cards and it was in england which says even more..cant really count that as a loss unless your a benn fanatic.. also if the ref let mcclellan at benn in the first round instead instead of blocking mcclellan that fight would of been over in 1 round..

G-man lost the fight its as simple as that! this argument has been in so many posts!

it is true nthat mckellan never truely proved himself in multiple divisions as kid achlles mentioned BUT he did destroy all his opponents apart from benn in a tyson like fashion. he could box and punch(like hearns) but could also take a good punch(not like hearns) he had everything.

i could not rate hi in top ten P4p not because he isn't good enough but because we cannot be sure he was.

mckellan won the first round BIG but benn won almost all of the subsequent rounds and caused the KO, which was unfortunately permenant
