Its not a NC because McCline injured himself while throwing a punch, therefore Valuev wins by default. If Valuev had stepped on his foot (which maybe a replay will show he did, but this was not the ruling) then it may be ruled a NC. Take for example the Kirk Johnson-Javier Mora fight, this fight was originally called a TKO win for Mora after Johnson injured his knee and couldn't continue, however the commision changed it to an NC after video reviews made it obvious that the injury was a result of Mora stepping on Johnson's foot.

Since this fight ended so abruptly and Valuev didn't sustain any injuries, he should set-up his mandatory fight against Chagaev as soon as possible... There's no reason why he shouldn't be able to get back in the ring within 2-3 months.Comment

They're fighting in April, from what I've heard.Comment

TKO stands per WBA rulesSounds like a crock of **** to me....why did'nt the fight end in a NC since McCkine was clearly injured and it was only the 3rd round?I did not see it just going off what I read and from that it sounds like in the U.S. it would have been a NC but in ****ing Europe as usual wierd **** happens.......clear it up if I am wrong but what?
The self given wounds or those suffered by the boxers during the bout, as for
example, fractures, sprain, twist of a join, swoon, etc. do not constitute
accident for the purpose of this regulation, and should any of these upsetting
prevent a boxer from continuing the fight, he shall lose the contest by TKO
