Juan Manuel Lopez Shines in TKO Win

PHOENIX – Looking more and more like a genuine contender than a prospect, undefeated southpaw Juan Manuel Lopez scored an impressive, one-sided sixth-round TKO over Cuauhtemoc Vargas in Friday’s main event on “ShoBox: The New Generation.” [details]

It was a good fight while it lasted. That Mexican kid was game and took a lotta shots and kept pressing forward landing hard body shots. Juanma looked fast and strong but has to improve his body attack. He should get a better ranking after this fight, let's see who's next.

I had seen highlights of Lopez fight before wasn't too impressed. Untill i seen his fight last night. He has some nice skills. Would like to see him hit the body, he's a head hunter right now, but he will defently get better. But he has to add defence for that left hook, the hook landed on him a few times, good thing Vargas was a smaller fighter and Lopez a few years down the line i be he'll be a jr. lightweight. Very skilled fighter just got to polish up his skills more, and very strong for this weight class.

Though it was only one round, i thought at first Ortiz was going to get outboxed, but by the end of the round, Ortiz was taking over. It was a crazy left elbow to the forehead that opened a mean looking cut on his forehead.

I don't think it was intentionally at first, but you could say it was intentional just by the way his punch missed but his elbow was extended as if he ment to hit him. But i can't really say, cause this was the first him seeing him fight and maybe thats how he throws his punchs i don't know.

I saw it, it was BS, Ortiz should've won by DQ since it was an intentional elbow, ref didn't know what the hell happened. That's why we need instant replay in boxing, fouls like that may be addressed. Still, Ortiz looked way stronger and sharper, on his way to a KO or TKO until that elbow landed.

Juanma was pretty damned impressive last night. I caught most of the fight and dude has solid ability across the board. His timing was excellent last night...his straight left hand is pretty sinister too. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of this kid in the future.
