I was planning on going there awhile ago, but at the time they were closing down. Now they basically moved across the street I guess. Ive heard that Barry is an ******* for the way they treated Augie Sanchez or something like that.
As far as other gyms, ON Charleston and Commerce theres two, Johnny Taccos gym, which I guess is closed for remodeling right now, but right around the corner, literally right around the corner maybe a 2 minute walk from Johnny Taccos is the "Las Vegas Boxing" gym where I train at. I kinda like it right now cause IM trying to get back into the swing of things and the gym is EMPTY until around 5 or 6 o'clock. SO you can basically have the whole gym to yourself. Kelcie Banks, a former fighter trains people there normally during the day, then at night some trainers come in and have a class with about 25 youngsters and 5 adults. It kind of a medium size gym compared to some of the ones Ive been in. Theres a ring, three heavybags, two double end bags (only one good one and even that one sucks) two speed bags, and two uppercut bags.
Taccos is real small and cramped, and it is set up in room, one room has a ring, another room has a ring, another room has a heavybag and a speed bag and double end bag and all three rooms are in a gym about the size of a 7-11.
Wayne McCollough has a gym somewhere but I dont know where its at.
DOn HOuse has a gym at a Golds Gym on Flamingo and Sandhill but it is extremely small and it sucks, it is just a ring, 4 heavybags and a grappling mat.
Theres also places like LA Boxing but they are gay.Comment

Golden GLoves gym was torn down YEARS ago, and ONe Kicks gym closed about 2 years ago and he moved into the Golds Gym where don house is at.
Richard Steele has had about 3 different gyms close and move over the past years.Comment

Damn the two places I checked out today.. Vegas and Round 1 had about 30 heavy bags some speed bags in the back and Round 1 was big Vegas was decent sized.. Still doing research on them though to see witch one is better.. you know anything about those two?I was planning on going there awhile ago, but at the time they were closing down. Now they basically moved across the street I guess. Ive heard that Barry is an ******* for the way they treated Augie Sanchez or something like that.

I train at Barry's, though I havent been in a couple months. i'll be back in either this week or next
if you're under 25 its $25 a month, above 25 its $50 a month. its cool, its not as hands on as i'd like, but its understandable, seeing as how at anytime theres between 20-50 (maybe more) there, between 3 trainers (pat Barry, augie sanchez, and teddy). a couple of the older vets there will work you and show you some things while training and what not.
i wish the gym was a bit bigger, it can get a bit cramped when alot of people show up, seeing as how theres 2 rings, 4 speed bag stations, acouple double end bags (which were broken off fromt he floor last i was there) some heavy bags and uppercut bags, along with a weight lifting area all in this small space. at times i have trouble finding a good spot to skip rope at when its packedComment

IN my opinon, LA and ROund 1 are just trying to cash in on MMA recent popularity and they are more aerobic and for regular people who watch the UFC and they wanna go grapple and hit a bag.
I went to an LA boxing and a ROund 1 gym to look around. AT the LA BOxing Gym, Kit Cope the muaythai guy from the MTV show and lost in the UFC was giving a class. The reason they have thirty heavybags is because it seemed more like an arobic thing. They had about 20 people and everyone had a bag and music was playing, and Cope was like telling them to kick and they threw kicks for few minutes, then he would say punch and they would just throw punches etc. Didnt seem anything like having a one on one trainer that is going to work with you, set up sparring and get you into compettitions.Comment

Barry's is a good place, i used to train there before they moved locations. i liked it because it was the cleanest place that i found, they kept up the place well, other ones i went into i've seen prison camps cleaner, that's a big thing with me, especially with a place where germs can be spread so easily, a clean facility is important.
but i think wayne Mccullough has a gym in vegas, i haven't seen it but if he does i'm sure it's nice.
as for Johnny Tocco's from what i remeber you have to be a pro to train there, but right around the corner from there i think on commerce there is a gym called Vegas Boxing, i know a few peeps that go there,
i think it's charleston and commerce not a 100%.
just shop around there are tons of spots in vegas to train.Comment
