This is a good read that k-dogg hooked me up with. We should rank fighters based on thier skill and quality, larry is better than joe louis in my opinion. I think he is number two, behind his very own teacher though.

Larry Holmes is easily a TOP 5 Alltime Heavyweight...any one disagrees is a blind SOB..Just my opinion. And he did beat Spinks twice in my opinion.

I've got him at #3 behind Ali and Louis

What if he was given the decisions against spinks and retired at 50-0. There is no doubt he won the 2nd fight against spinks, the first one is debatable.

Larry Holmes vs ken norton may have been the best heavyweight fight ever, i loved all 15 rounds. Its what i call prizefighting, not crap that you see today with oleg, shannon and others like rahman and peter.

If he was given the decisions against spinks then people would still be debating about how controvershal they were. If he retired after that then I would have him lower as he didn't face great competition in the early 80's. His longevity through the 90's though have given him a higher spot on my list.

Yes he is better than all the **** we have today heading the division. Holmes v Norton was a very exciting fight, not the best ever but exciting none the less. Shows how even a past his prime Norton gave Holmes lots of trouble.

Yeah and norton arguably beat ali all 3 times, no one gave ali more trouble than ken norton.

I definatly have Ali winning 2 of the fights but yes Norton gave Ali hell. His aggressive counterpunching style was a handful for boxers who worked off the jab.

no, everyone thinks norton was robbed in the third fight, its the 4th most controversial title fight ever. They didnt want norton to win the trilogy, it's as simple as that. Norton was robbed, there is no other way to it. Ring magazine agrees with me anyways, you can check out the magazine from that year yourself. Norton had ali's number!

Again it's your and a magazines oppinion. Ali of that time was too static for my tastes and that often let him down. He couldn't dance for 15 like he could in the 60's.

But you obviously have fused oppinions that won't be changed so I'm not going to bother to debate with you on the subject as it would be like trying to teach a dog to start a fire - a waste of time!
