Tommy Morrison ?????

Let me throw out a comment/question... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that Magic Johnson has got his HIV down to such low levels through diet, exercise, and medicine, that it's not detectable in some tests. I don't know if this is right but it definitely begs the question:
Has Morrison got his HIV to such levels where it is undetectable on the tests they use?Comment

what if he never had HIV there was never PROOF he ever even had it so why do you all belive he has it?. there are such things as false positives, he has only tested Postive ONCELet me throw out a comment/question... Thank you for throwing such an intelligent, well-thought out and well spoken question into the mix. I was wondering why nobody had mentioned this yet.Let me throw out a comment/question... Truth is it's possible. If Johnson could do it, Morrison surely could. It's a dangerous game to play, because if Morrison has it he's not only risking his own life by competing at such high energy levels, but risking infecting other fighters as well.
Interesting question.Comment

I don't know all the facts in the case to reach a definite conclusion on whether or not he was pos or neg. But do you think the Magic argument makes any sense?Comment
-
yes the Magic Johnson thing makes sense BUT i am not convinced Tommy even ever had HIV, if he did there have been cases in which someone tested positve at one time and then turned out to lose the virusComment

There are several different types of HIV test.
In an HIV+ person, viral load may go down to undetectable levels with antiretroviral treatment but they would still have HIV and would test positive for HIV antibodies.
If Tommy Morrison has HIV, it will be detectable if the proper testing is done, but from memory I think it is (at least) 99.5% sensitive so false positives (and negatives) can happen but are very rare.Last edited by Toller; 01-12-2007, 04:50 PM.Comment

I'm not convinced that is true. I think it's more likely those cases were initially false positives rather than a true positive followed by a true negative.there have been cases in which someone tested positve at one time and then turned out to lose the virusComment

Ok, let me ask a follow-up question... If a HIV pos person has undetectible levels, then can he/she transmit the disease?Comment
