    ITV want Haye v Maccarinelli

Looks like Frank Warren is the only obstacle to this fight.

ITV boss would love to see Haye v Maccarinelli

Mark Sharman, ITV's Director of Sport, has said he would love to see a match up between Britain's two best cruiserweights – and revealed it isn't ITV who have thrown a spanner in the works.

“I would love to see Enzo Maccarinelli take on David Haye. It's a great fight between two big punchers that all punters would love to see on ITV.”

BritishBoxing.net revealed earlier in the week that several internet forums have asked fans to petition ITV to ensure the exciting match went ahead. David Haye's team had issued a statement which said Sports Network was insisting on further options on Haye under direction from the television company.

In a nutshell, ITV was being made out to be the bad guys in the breakdown of negotiations.

“We have been getting some stick via email,” conceded Sharman. “But it's simply inaccurate to blame ITV. We have a contract with the promoter which in this case is Frank Warren and Sports Network. We don't get involved in the negotiations and we haven't on this occasion either.”

David Haye's team have said they are willing to accept Sports Network's initial offer of a one-off fight between the European champion and the Welsh WBO champion.

As ITV's top man has come out in support of the match, perhaps this makes what is an eagerly anticipated showdown more likely.

If anything could pressure this fight into happening then it is an ITV deal, they bring more money to the table due to viewing figures which have consistently destroyed Skysports and BBC since they took Boxing back on.

I would say Warren will have to accommodate ITV or threaten a lucrative relationship in the future!

Reading Boxing News it's clear that Warren is the one that is making all the demands - he wants options on Haye for FIVE fights, including multiple defences of the WBO title and a fight at heavyweight. Well, hang on a second, that would derail Haye's plans of fighting O'Neil Bell wouldnt it? And wasnt the original offer from Haye's camp a one fight deal? Why can't that be made? Why does Warren have to have options on Haye afterwards? Because he has NO faith in Enzo, none at all. He believes his own fighter will get beat and so he is making sure that he doesnt lose his meal ticket.

Boxing will lose fans because of this, and I hope Warren loses his ITV deal. He needs to wake up and realise that he doesnt own boxing and can't just do whatever the ****ing hell he wants.

Agreed, cracks are starting to appear all around Warren now, the whole Hatton incident revealed what we had all suspected for a long time and that is that Warren is dirty no matter how many bells and whistles you stick to him!

Wasn't it Haye's promoter that agreed to the 5 fight deal and then backed out on it later? Don't blame him like, but it's a bit amateurish from Haye's side.

Still, good to see ITV wading in and putting pressure on Warren to make this happen. Here's hoping the fight happens and Enzo gives him the beating I think he will.

I tend to assume all promoters are morally corrupt scum whose sole intention is to line their pockets for as long as they can with little regard for their boxers interests or the boxing public. It saves wasting time.

You are right of course, but......for a while way back when Warren seemed to have climb out the cess pit onto the toilet seat and was OK!

Now, his true colours have shown, so yep your right!
