WILL Mayweather become the Greatest? Not CAN he become it, but WILL he

Enough threads about, "I think if Mayweather beats this guy, this guy, and that guy, then he'll be the best ever."

DO you think he WILL get this guy, this guy, and that guy, IN THE RING WITH HIM, and do you think he'll be able to beat all of them? And will it make him the greatest?

It could happen but most likely won't, so I'll say no. Everyone has their different opinions about who he needs to beat in order to be considered the greatest. IMO, it would take wins vs. DLH, Mosley, Hatton and Cotto. That would mean that Mosley, Hatton and Cotto FINALLY were willing to get in the ring with him and I don't think that will happen even if he stays in the sport after DLH. That would give him wins over pretty much all of the best fighters in the past decade in his divisions (and above). Freitas and Casamayor were names that would make his resume that much better, but they aren't THAT impressive to hold him back too much. There are just too many "what ifs" that need to fall into place and I don't think they will. As for him being the most TALENTED ever....

i think u touched on the big question there at the end.

Do you judge the greatest fighter on who he beat, or how he beat them? Do you judge him on his record, or his skill?

Certainly, Mayweather has passed nearly all his big tests with flying colors. But the agrument can be made that he hasnt fought enough big guys. Certainly guys like Baldomire arent boosting his record.

IMO it's not fair to judge a guy solely on who he beat because there have been a lot of fighters that were avoided like the plague when they were in their prime. After they were older, they got beat by the guys who had avoided them earlier. So all factors need to be taken into account.

As for the Baldy fight, I don't think anyone else could have helped him more than Baldy, so how can you take anything away from him? The "big 4" DLH, Mosley, Hatton and Cotto were not going to fight him, so why not Baldomir? Personally I thought Spinks would've been the toughest fight, but nobody seemed to want that fight, so it was Baldy. There was nobody else there to fight and Baldy had proven that he was capable of beating a couple respected guys.
