Collazo Looks to Sour Sugar Shane

You can make the argument that former WBA Welterweight titlist Luis Collazo, next up to face “Sugar” Shane Mosley in Las Vegas on February 10th, has never really lost a fight at all.

The first blemish on Collazo’s record came at the hasty hand of referee Jay Nady, who as he often does, prematurely jumped into the middle of Collazo's proceedings against Edwin Cassiani. It was just another screw up in the long list of fights that Nady has tainted by stopping too soon. Collazo’s second loss was a questionable decision to Ricky Hatton last May in Boston. Some argue that Collazo should easily be undefeated right now, so as he prepares to get sour on “Sugar” Shane in Vegas – Collazo should have a lot to feel sweet about.

Despite the fact that he appeared spectacular while dismantling Fernando Vargas in his last fight, many feel that “Sugar” Shane Mosley may have fermented and that he’s ripe for the picking. After all, Mosley is closer to 40 than he is 30 and he’s a veteran of nearly 50 professional fights with 14 years on his pro clock.

Like all fighters, Mosley sees things differently than the critics and had this to say about Collazo, whom he will face at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. “Luis Collazo is a rising star in this game and I’m looking forward to matching skills with him on February 10th. “I’m coming to fight and to put on a great show for the fans, and from what I’ve seen of Collazo, he feels the same way. I’m ready to go to war.” [details]

Collazo is very good and came so close to beating Hatton. Mosley's style depended on his speed. As a younger guy in the lightweight division, and for a time as a welterweight, he was able to do amazing things because of that speed. As an older guy, he looks conflicted because he doesn't have the speed to be able to get away with those things.

Collazo is solid. Skilled and patient with a wide array of punches and solid welterweight strength and power. I'd reckon Mosley, being that he has campaigned at 154, would be better suited to take Collazo's strength, but then Mosley is still a guy that was most effective as a lightweight.

Good match well worth looking forward to.

Mosley just gets in the inside and throw many flurries. To win Collazo needs to keep Mosley at bay and show him some power for respect. It's a food matchup but either guy can win.

Mosley ruined himself, i mean he gets owned by vernon and winky and then asks for an immediate rematch. That's not very smart, if you want to fight them again you should have racked up wins and be well prepared. He is good but his ego has prevented him from being in the same breath as leonard and hearns.

He did beat Hatton IMO anyways. I like Collazo , he's solid and crafty but I just think that Shane will somehow find a way to win this from his big ring experience.

i think collazo's gonna take this fight, mosley is old, he's jumped up and down in weight, and more important, he lost three times ( once the amatuers, twice in the pros ) to slick boxer named vernon forrest. collazo is also a tall, slick boxer with good all around skills. he came very close to knocking ricky hatton the **** out, this is a bad style matchup for shane

They actually ran footage of the press conference on LA TV news tonight.

It's about GD time! They never run stories about boxing. The last piece I caught was on Fernando Vargas before the Trinidad fight in 00' on nightly news.

Shane is big in LA. They hyped Shane which is nice.

Collazo has shown class. He's seems like a really cool cat.

I respect his treatment of the lead in.

                    Good show, can't wait.
