... first of all, great issue from what I've read of it, though as always the fact that it's so far behind the times when it gets published takes the shine off. Though it's arguably a better magazine than Boxing Monthly which I also buy regularly, I've seen Boxing Monthly review fights that had taken place a FORTNIGHT before the issue came out. With the Ring they're still working on a write-up for Pernell Whitakker's debut bout.
Basically, it's JANUARY now. I wanted to read about the fights/fighters/performances of the year 2006, not about Floyd-Baldi which took place over two months ago. But it's a small gripe and one that will never be resolved.
Anyway, the contents:
* Nigel Collins the editor gives his top ten rankings of fighters for ENTERTAINMENT value, and is scathing about Floyd, leaving him out altogether. Although Collins is an ex pat who lives in the US full time, it must be noted that he's still, by birth, a green teef Brit f.ag so it's self pwnage really.
* Floyd also gets slated in the main write-up though. I admire Floyd's boxing skills, but the guy's just a complete deuche. Any write-up that slags him a little is fine by me.
* By the same token, the likeable Pacquiao gets some kind words said about him.
* Ivan Goldman talks up Joe Blow, and even says its perfectly reasonable for the Blow not wanting to fight under US commissions. I don't know whether I agree, I'm just reporting the facts, ma'am.
* Finally, check out the pic of Wladdy on page 26... is he a goofy looking bastard or what?
