Mixed Martial Arts taking over.......will this be the fall of boxing?

Sadly to say where I live there are few boxing fans. I would invite friends over to watch boxing and not many cared half the time they didn't even know who the hell was fighting unless it was a Roy Jones, Mke Tyson , Delahoya, or Mayweather. These same people now are UFC fans. They do not hesitate to watch a UFC match. These are people who were not fans of any combat sport to begin with. UFC is taking over all combat sports. Why? Well people like the mixed fighting instead of the just using hands. They want to see KO's and many UFC fights end that way. People are obsessed in watching how others would do in a streetfight. I mean there are no bottles, bats etc.. allowed but MMA its almost like a street fight given that mostly everything is allowed. Showtime and HBO will be broadcasting their version of MMA this year also. Another thing that helped MMA succeed was the Spike channel. They showed what the UFC was to the mainstream while boixng had no broadcast other than a few Friday night fights and HBO and showtime which you have to pay for. I was also surprised to see this site with MMA advertisements on the top of the page. Mixed Martial Art is everywhere and sadly boxing is paying the price.

Move out of the gay bar. Move back into your grandmothers basement. She loves the boxing.
