You made me think - I'm going to have to agree with the possibility that Castillo has damaged fighters irrepperably.

Castillo was TKO'd by Corrales, Jauregui twice, Soto, and Alvarez - however.

Do you mean "knocked down?" Or just KO'd?
The Corrales stoppage was the closest he's been to getting knocked out. Tony Weeks stepped in and Castillo later admitted he was hurt.

All of the other stoppages on Castillo's record are down to cuts.

Nobody has ever put him out for the count. To my knowledge, he has never even been off his feet. Even against Corrales he was stopped by the ref on his feet.

Incidentally, Castillo has royally messed up Corrales, Julio Diaz, Casamayor, Juan Lazcano and Stevie Johnston.

Hatton wants to find out if he can live in that kind of a war with Castillo. It's just my opinion, but I doubt that Hatton will like the answer.

If Hatton is having trouble with Castillo IF he decides to simply stand and trade, he has so much more in his armoury to call on - he can work on the outside, give him angles, put a jab in his face, use his footspeed and agility to make him miss, etc.

Castillo doesn't have Hatton's muscle strength or agility and Hatton has the faster hands, the shorter punches and the better combinations. Plus Hatton is more polished, he knows how to use the angles better and has more punch variety. He also has better left hand work than anything Jose has seen (hooking off the jab, left uppercuts off the jab, jabbing off the hook, jabbing off the left uppercut, jabs turned into hooks or corkscrew uppercuts, switching from head to body or body to head like lightning, etc).

Those are options to BOX Castillo. He won't try to box him. He wants to fight him. He wants to know if he can get through that kind of a fight. He wants the baptism of fire.

Hatton is a specimen at light welterweight, but he is not going to get away with that physical stuff with Castillo the way he did with Tszyu.

Castillo chooses to go to war. He can box as well as anyone, but he's been bred to fight the way he fights. That's the whole purpose behind Hatton going after this fight. If he stands off and patters around Castillo he will get panned.

Being a British fighter making it on the big stage means that winning is not enough for Hatton; he has to perform to very high expectations.

Also, I know full well what Hatton has in his armory, but where was all that against Collazo?

He was clearly muscle-bound against Collazo.

If your body is failing you, what can you do?

Kerry Kayes was exposed that night. Kayes didn't understand Hatton's body structure, Hatton has short limbs and is naturally stocky - I mean look at his ****ing fingers, and training for hypertrophy is a big 'no-no' in boxing ESPECIALLY with Hatton's body structure. Billy Graham has said they needed to pack on muscle or Ricky wouldn't of been able to stand up to a natural welterweights punches because he could naturally still make 140 easily, but Kayes should of realised Hatton's body structure and spoke against it because it slowed Hatton down so much to the point where he could barely move. If he was trying to hit a punchbag that night, he'd of struggled. Hatton weighed 158 on the morning of the fight but actually entered the ring at 165. He was almost as wide as he was tall, ridiculous.

              hattons size?
              hatton maybe heavier
but he is nowhere near bigger
              hatton is only 5'6

castillo will have the broader shoulders and frame
              and height and reach

hatton jsut at a bigger weight class
that castillo could have been 10 years ago

but i think hatton speed head movement
and pressure would get him the win

I agree with what you are saying but Hatton is like Castillo, a toe to toe fighter so to fight that way is no disadvantage!

This fight would have to be one of Hattons last fight as it would take a great deal out of him but I am fairly confident that Hatton would be too strong and too big for Castillo and would win on decision but.....I expect a close war!
