    Peter 249, Toney 234!

    Peter 249, Toney 234!

    Thursday, January 4 2007

By Karl Freitag at the scale

Samuel Peter outweighed James Toney by 15 pounds for their SHOWTIME-televised rematch on Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock LIVE Arena in Hollywood, FL. Toney weighed in first at 234, one pound more than the first fight, although his body looked to be in much better shape. Peter scaled in at 249, eight pounds less than in their first fight. The Peter camp selected Reyes gloves, while the Toney group selected Everlast.

Interesting, Peter has choosen to use the "punchers glove" rather than his normal grant gloves.

All the luck to Toney, I still pick him by UD, but I have this sinking feeling about him being KOd.

This is the only post I'm gonna make on this topic...until I change my mind, of course.

It makes me freakin' sick to my stomache that two of the more high-profile fighters in the division can't get their asses in the best shape possible.

"DO YOU WANNA BE THE BEST OR NOT?! WHERE'S THE DRIVE?! WHERE'S THE MOTIVATION?!

Peter and Toney are bringing back flashbacks of the early to mid 1980's and teh days of Tony Tubbs, Tim Witherspoon, Greg Page, and Leroy Jones; fat heavyweights who have no regard for themselves or their sport. James Toney, even at 38, is one of the more technically refined fighters in the world and if he got his donut-munchin' ass in shape could probably win at least one title...yet he can't even win the battle of the bulge. Peter on the other hand is as crude as they come; but has been blessed with power. Does he not realize that at 6'1" his best weight is around 220; and that he'd be able to deliver those blows faster at a smaller weight....and would have a better chance of not tiring down the stretch?!

I guess neither of them give a ****......so I won't either. Screw 'em both! I am not watching two fat men go at it unless there's Sumo Wrestilng on the tube!!

          Lazy bastards.

Prolly gives more cushion for them rabbit ass punches.

Them grants are pretty though... Loved the tarver blues and the floyd pinkies w/the Gladiator gear

I hope so, I sure hope so. I watched Peter/Toney I last night, Peter is terrible. He reminds me of a walking tree trunk with as much mobility and skills.

all peter is going to do this time around is try and apply more pressure without getting tired. that's it and that's all i think he's going to bring.

i hope toney gets the win, even if he gets the shady decision this time around.
