    7 for 2007

2007 is already shaping up as an interesting year in boxing. Fights such as Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather and Marco Antonio Barrera-Juan Manuel Marquez have already been inked, with bouts like Antonio Margarito-Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton-Jose Luis Castillo quite possibly on the horizon. Outings like Jesus Chavez-Julio Diaz and Tomasz Adamek-Chad Dawson also figure to be gems.

But in an era when MMA is creeping up (or has surpassed) the marketshare that boxing had once monopolized, it's more important than ever for the game’s power brokers to make as many meaningful fights as possible.

I'm not a matchmaker or television executive (but I did once stay at a Holiday Inn) but here are seven bouts I would try and consummate for the upcoming year. No, not all of them would be considered 'big fights' (and quite frankly, there aren't a lot of those anymore), but all are bouts that would be both significant and entertaining to the viewing public.

***Some top fights this year....should be a good one if all of them can be made.
