Fran Charles misses enough dates as it is. I don't know if he could take an expanded schedule while Lampley "sorts out his mess" in the event of a suspension/firing...

Do you suppose HBO has already contacted Brian Kenny? He might be my pick... I'd rather him over, say, Chris Rose or Barry Thompkins...

Too soon to even think about.
There's two sides to every story and I don't understand why something like that would call for him getting fired.

In many cases like this, though, the accused will be given a leave of absence to deal with their personal and legal issues and to save public relations face for the network.

I imagine if that's the case, Fran Charles will just get more dates to call.

But come on, jack, who would you want to see doing play-by-play if Lampley goes...?

I really don't know. I wouldn't want anyone but Lampley.
To be honest with you, I still miss Big George.

Neils7147933 might be right Jack. If that's the case I bet they'll move Max Kellerman or Fran Charles into that spot until the smoke clears on old Lamps.

Lampley won't get fired. If they need a short term replacement, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Tessitore on HBO. I think he does a decent job for ESPN...

Larry Merchant on steroids and bottomless supply of Red Bull will do.

LOL - I remember one PPV I watched, it was like round 3 or 4 of the first undercard before Merchant even spoke. Maybe he was passed out or in the ****ter...

But really, I think Taylor-Joppy was just Merchant and a color guy and it ******

HBO would probably go with Charles or James Brown, who filled in on Mosley-Vargas I when Lamps was at the Olympics.

I want to say Barry Tompkins (he would be my no.1 choice), but after getting replaced by Lamps, is this logical? Were bridges burned?

I like Tessitore as well, but--and this is NO shot at him--the HBO fights would feel like ESPN2 fights if he were on the call for obvious reasons. Lamps just has that big-time atmosphere voice that I think everyone else, sans Tompkins, lacks.

I've been first in line to rip Lamps for his favoritism for guys like DLH and Taylor, but I hope this issue is worked out and he can keep his post as the voice of championship boxing. Could you imagine DLH-PBF with no Lamps? That'd be awful.
