    Barrera Fighting Marquez Not Pac!

Moments ago Golden Boy Promotions CEO contacted **********.com to inform us that since Manny Pacquiao was not interested in facing Marco Antonio Barrera on March 17, Barrera will now face Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on that date. HBO PPV will televise. More details to follow shortly. (12:43 PM EST)

I still think this could be a good fight. Marquez impressed me in his last fight. He showed some heart even with blood streaming down his face that makes me think he might be ready for a war.

Good. This match is long overdue. JMM, along with Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera comprised the "little big 3", so to speak. This is good because both are past there best and will be fighting for pride and legacy....and whoever wins, it will set up a great rematch with Manny Pacquia, boxing's future. The old guys are taking care of unfinished business and setting up the passing of the torch ceremony at the same time.

          I like it.

So who the heck does Pac fight?
            Joan Guzman?
Rocky Juarez ? I think NOT.
The top 3 Lightweights are all fighting early this year.
David Diaz? Pac would probably want the better DIAZ.

            Maybe Soto, I would watch.

I dont see anything special for Pac Man in April, maybe beat up on Zahir Raheem as his first match at 135.

That's a very good way of looking at it. I was interested in the match-up and I think you've now sold me on it. When put like that this match-up is almost preferable to an immediate Pac-Barrera fight.

Are you saying Pac-man is avoiding Barrera?

Well in as much as I really wanted that Pac/MAB rematch to happen there's nothing much anybody can do. It's obvious that GBP and TOP Rank won't work together to make it happen.

Good for Marquez because he'll finally have a chance to get a recognition, a chance that he lost when he decided not to fight El Terible and Pacman. If Marquez wins there's no way in hell a Pac/JMM rematch won't happen. And it's gonna be bigger.
