Did Emmanuel Steward hate Gatti or love Micky Ward?

In the infamous 9th round of their first fight, remember when Steward yells to Micky, "that's it! GO TO THE BODY!!!". I mean, I can understand he was excited and all, though when your yelling at the fighter to do something because it's your trainer gut instinct coming out, it's sorta weird. I could understand if he was screamed out something like, Ward needs to go to the body to keep Gatti off him, though when he yelled it out loud directed towards Micky, it's like he was soley cheering for him. Anyone else notice this or am I being too critical after watching that round a hundred times?

Hes a fan of Gatti. You can tell by watching the Baldomir fight. He seemed like he was torn between going with his heart (Gatti) and his brain (Baldy). He did the same thing in the DLH though.

As far as I know, Steward hates Mosley and loves De La Hoya. But I did notice that as well. I always thought he liked Gatti, but he definitely wanted Ward to win that first fight for some reason. He also really wanted Toney to whoop Jirov. I can't believe he lets his bias get in the way like that, but hey, he's a trainer, so I guess it's only natural that he yells out instructions to the guys he wants to win.

Early in the Jirov fight he kept saying he didnt think Toney would hold up to the pressure. He did get very excited during the 12th round. I dont blame him though that round was amazing, and Stewards reaction is priceless.

if i remember correctly he was saying how ward needs to go to the body to hurt gatti and when ward hit him with the body shot he said, "that what he needs, go to the body" It's one of those thing where he was acknowledgeing him and got cought up in the moment. He was excited about the fight that's all.

In the countdown to Baldomir-Mayweather I think he believed Gatti would beat Baldomir(which many did).

He said something like
