How good were the heavyweights Tyson fought?

Tyson used to be one of the most exciting heavyweights and he impressed a lot of people. It has been said the people he fought werent all that good. But were the generation he fought as good as todays generation of heavyweights? Would he be as dominant if he fought the guys like Wladimir, and the other Russians.

a prime tony tucker would be undisputed champ today...

a 38 larry holmes would also be dominate today

the tony tubbs tyson fought would have at least gave most of these lethargic hws fits with his hand speed

i mean alot of tysons opponets werent bad fighters! they didnt become bad untill tyson started ****ing up ...thats when everyone turned into know it all howard cosell wanna bes

Tony Tucker seemed to dissapear off the radar after losing to Tyson. But i dont think the heavyweights had a decent chin that Tyson fought. The way they folded when Tyson hit them made me think either Tyson is damn powerful or these guys have got porcelain for a chin.
Wladimir might have fainted at the wind of Tysons punches then.
But Tyson is a top ten heavy for me.

He would be a threath now but he would still lose to Lennox Lewis and Vitali and maybe waldimir other than that he would be dominant

Perhaps Tyson was actually that good he made a lot of good HW's look decidedly average.

Lennox Lewis was a very decent boxer but there's no way he would have survived in a fight with the Tyson of the late 80's, especially with his suspect chin.

guys liek frank bruno, bruce seldon and pinklon thomas, trevor berbick, james smith and carl williams would have no more success in todays heavyweight division than they did back then.....

i just cant get by the fact that he never beat bowe, lewis or holyfield ... and i dont want to hear excuses as to why.... i dont care

              Tucker would be champ today
Spinks would definetly be champ today
38 year old Holmes would be champ

Although guys like bonecrusher, pinklon, carl williams really aren't good at all.

To me valuev and klitschko are the only good champs, oleg and shannon will turn into one hit wonders soon.

It really leaves me lost when people say Valuev is a good champion. He's better than Maskaev and Briggs? I'd favor either of them against Valuev, honestly.

So its kinda unanimous that the heavies of now would do no better than the heavies in Tysons peak. And Tyson would beat the guys that are champ now.
