Upon reading world super batamweight champion Israel Vazquez' December 18th article on *********, former bantamweight champion Rafael Marquez's manager Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain immediately responded through Mexico's biggest sports media outlets Esto, La Opinion and Notimex. "No one has contacted me at the moment but we would accept a fight with Vazquez immediately," Beristain is quoted as saying. "Vazquez is the best fighter pound for pound at 122 pounds and a very valiant champion. The ideal site for a fight of this magnitude could be the Staples Center in Los Angeles. If it's possible, the fight could be made March 2007. Why wait?" After reading Beristain's comments, a delighted Frank Espinoza (Vazquez's manager) told *********, "This is great news! That's half the battle won in making this fight happen. The promoters can easily make this fight happen now that both fighters, both managers, and the fans want the fight. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved. It makes no financial sense for either fighter to fight anyone else first. It's in the hands of the promoters now."---*********.com

Golden Boy & Shaw Make It Happen 4 The Fans....
Today, as I spoke with Vazquez's manager, "Fearless" Frank Espinoza, President and Founder of the Espinoza Boxing Club (which also directs the careers of former World Champion Martin "El Gallito" Castillo, prospect Manny "Suavecito" Roman, and up and comer Juan "Pollo" Hernandez), and he expressed his interest in a fight between his man Vazquez and Marquez.
"It makes sense, for all the parties involved and the fans. I think it would be an exciting fight that would draw fans in at the live event and obviously on television. I look forward to making the fight happen and am glad to hear the Nacho is interested, as well."
Now it is in the hands of each fighter's respective promoters. Vazquez, represented by Golden Boy Promotions and Sycuan Ringside Promotion, might be more interested in a bout between Vazquez and Daniel Ponce De Leon.
Why?
