I can respect that opinion. Its a huge fight for Paulie, if he losses this then he probably wouldnt have the confidence to fight anymore. After the Cottot fight he was a wreck for at least a month.
Support Paulie!!

not forgeting joel julioI'm not knocking Paulie...but they always say McGirt is doing wonders. He taught Gatti to box before the Baldomir fight, he got Tarver ready to rumble before he fought Hopkins...just saying..the guy didn't have a good year. I don't have much faith in him.
Malinaggi, though, proved he's a tough little guy in the Cotto fight. I think that a rematch would be a horrible idea, though. He took some real punishment. I'm already a bit worried about the effects that might have had from the first go-round.Comment

Yeah but Paulie thought he could beat Cotto. All the fans and the media said he had no chance but he always thought he would win. Then when he lost he didnt look at it as a gain cause we all thought he was gonna win. It was terrible seeing him after that fight.Comment

Suppose thats rite, u need to hav that winners attitude. If he duznt beat Cherry he is in big trouble coz he strikes me as a real confidence fighter, would that be fair to say?Comment

Oh absolutely. If he lost to cherry its safe to say everyone in his team and whos close to him would be shocked. But hesready and he should dominate cherry for at least 10 rounds to 2Comment

Pauli is nothing for Cotto's career right now. Cotto's focusing on big names and Pauli isn't one. Pauli would have to move up to welter which is Cotto's perfect weight and this time if he knocks pauli down he will stay down. After cherry pauli would have to fight and beat better names in order for cotto to even consider a rematch. He does't need the rematch, pauli does.Comment

I like the kid, Pauli seemed alright, but I agree. I think there's no reason for Cotto to take the fight. There are no lingering questions- he punished Malinaggi for running his mouth. I think Cotto would either end Pauli's career in a rematch by laying Welterweight punishment on him or he'd KO him like he failed to do the first time.Pauli is nothing for Cotto's career right now. I mean, Italia is a big Malinaggi fan- seems to know him- and he admits Pauli is a confidence fighter. He has to believe in himself to win. He got beat pretty soundly the first go round...he took punishment and lost. Do we really believe he can keep coming forward in the fact of adversity in a rematch, knowing he lost the first time? He'll crumble the second time out and wilt under pressure I believe.Comment

Paulie is a cool guy and I respect him, but he's out of his mind if he thinks he can rematch Cotto this year or the next. First of all, as some posters have said, Miguel would not gain anything from fighting him because he is not a Welterweight contender, he is barely a Light Welterweight contender. Without having to lose 9 extra pounds (Cotto was at 138 in the weigh-in for the Paulie fight) his strenght would go through the roof. He knocked down Paulie in the second round of their match, imagine what he would do to him at Welter.
Paulie, you're a nice guy, a warrior, hard worker, funny, and decent fella, but if you want to live, forget about fighting with Miguel Cotto again. Just lookin out dawg.Comment
