He hasn't fought anybody yet, either. I think it's disgraceful.
He must be the most padded fighter ever, and by some way.
He (or his people) turned down fights with Calzaghe and Lacy last year, but don't tell me he 'wasn't ready' after 35+ fights!
Kessler holds two belts, but that's it with him. Belts don't mean a thing anymore. And Manny Siaca and Markus Beyer were the two worst titlists in boxing - possibly ever.

Kessler is 27 now. He went pro just after he turned 19. So he had a rather short amateur career.
Very true he was carefully brought foreward (protected you will) for a good many fights as a substitute for a prolonged amateur career.
His last fight sceduled to be less than 12 rnds was in 2002 though. He was 23 then. How many 23 year-olds do you expect to have a number of 12 rounders under their belt?
(In comparison i believe JC had his last fight scedueled for less than 12 rnds at age 25)
In reality Kessler has only stepped up to world level in his lat 5-7 fights. His age in mind that is not late at all. It just appears late with the number of fights he's had.
Therefore even though Kessler has almost as many pro fight as Calzaghe, comparing their records over their entire careers does not make sense.
Comparing them over their recent careers since Kessler has reached top-level holds far more significance when discussing their current chances against each other.
For Kessler it does, because it's all you can base him on. And in the absence of one single decent fighter on that list he's rather an unknown quantity at best.
Lol, every fighter starts with 4 or 6 rounders, if kessler defends his belts 18 times against the guys like Calzaghe fought then you can say he padded is career, it's to early to judge Kessler now.
BTW Kessler wants to fight Calzaghe but Calzaghe don't want any part of Kessler!

Too early to tell? By the time Calzaghe had 38 fights he had 15+ title fights, you can't mock Calzaghe's competition and say "It's too early to judge Kessler now".

Sure I can, reason is Kessler does not have his belts as long as Calzaghe! When Kessler defends his belt around 15 times agaisnt guys like Calzaghe fought then I will be on his ass too.

Both fighters were 25 when they got their first major belts.
Kessler unified when he was 27. At 27 Calzaghe still had how many years to go before getting his second belt? (first really depending on how you feel about WBO)
