The Sacramento Bee reports that WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev is going to have right elbow surgery on January 9. The injury stems from his bout with Hasim Rahman, which took place on August 12. Initially, Maskaev thought surgey would not be needed, but he noticed problems with the right arm when he defended his title on Decemeber 10 in Moscow, picking up a twelve round decision over Peter Okhello. Wow while he WILL HAVE SURGERY AND STILL WANT TO FIGHT WLAD, thats to damn bad becuz the Toney V Peter fight is on the 6th and will be finished on the 7th and thus leaving a winner between the 2 that will not have any1 of meaning to fight unless either KLIT jumps right on the winner or A Toney or Peter V Mas fight is announced to be in the works soon after, i dont see mas fighting or the winner fighting any1 else first! -
