One fighter that is very delighted with the news of Bernard Hopkins returning to the ring is former light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver.

Tarver wants nothing more than a rematch with the man that dominated him in June. He was the heavy favorite to win against Hopkins, a career middleweight who was moving up two weight classes to make the fight.

Gaining over 40-pounds of mass to play the role of a heavyweight champion in the movie Rocky Balboa, Tarver used his entire training camp to get himself back to the point of a fit 175-pound fighter. In the ring with Hopkins, he appeared to have nothing in the tank as Hopkins won most of the twelve rounds and even scored a knockdown.

Currently, Tarver is training with Buddy McGirt in Florida, preparing for a return to the ring. Tarver tells the Contra Costa Times , that if Hopkins wants to continue in the sport of boxing, he will need to give him a rematch.

"I'm going to build my name back up and to the point where, you know, he's going to have to fight if he wants to continue to be in boxing," Tarver said of Hopkins. "This is going to be the mega fight for him. ... I mean especially coming off the cuff of 'Rocky Balboa'."

I want what Antonio Tarver is smokin.
When is this guy going to realize that he will never be a marquee name in boxing. He has done nothing for the sport of boxing and lacks the talent and charisma to be a boxing star. What have you done Tarver ? Who have you fought ? An aging Jones, an even older Hopkins who dominated you over 12 rounds and nearly knocked you out.
You know I have seen all the Rocky movies but I am not even going to watch this one because you are in it. Please leave the sport of boxing forever because I personally am tired of hearing about how great you are and how people gota go through you to continue in the sport of boxing HAHA. LMFAO !! You aint **** you aint never been **** and you never will be **** so enjoy the money you got from the Rocky movie because that is your last big paycheck.

      i actually agree...

The younger and hungrier usually wins, and Tarver seems VERY hungry for this rematch.

But who knows, Hopkins is a master at what he does. He could dominate even MORE then he did last time, and stop Tarver late.

And a rematch with Tarver gains hopkins nothing. absolutely nothing. especially with all the talk of hopkins moving up to heavyweight

Tarver won't beat B-Hop, but it won't be as 1 sided as the first fight was.

Tarver doesn't stand a chance of KOing Hopkins.

Any prize fighter with two hands has a chance. I like both of these guys alot but I think Tarver will do better in a rematch.
