i actually just watched my old raging bull vhs the other day and i definately liked it better this time around. last time i watched it was prob a good while back, maybe over a year or so. it grows on you every time. now would i say its better than rocky? i honestly couldnt. they are both just two very different types of films, but i guess since i came up on the rocky movies and saw and loved them first id go with them over RB but like i said, two totally diff genres in a sense.

that alone in my opinion makes it a top 20 ( possibly even top 10 ) movie of all time
definitely de niros most committed performance...putting on and losing that much weight for the role. its definitely in my top ten.

              "Is that a big shot?"

"....a tough guy, a big shot....?"

"Get him in the back room, without his gun..."

              "....No more big shot..."

****ing incredible film. De Niro just embodies La Motta. Its so well shot, written, acted, the lot. It tramples all over Rocky, for me. It's in a different class, it's up there with your Godfather's, your On The Waterfront's, you Citizen Kane's - it's a true classic and one of the best films ever made

Scorceses got snubbed for Best Director for that one.

They don't like Marty in Hollywood.

Maybe it's because he's always dissing certain ethnic groups.

Or maybe he dissed "the" ethnic group.
