Tarver Not Sure Why De La Hoya Sells

Former light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver is doing plenty of media interviews with respect to his role as Mason Dixon in Rocky 6. In a recent conference call with the press, Tarver was asked about the sport of boxing being a very popular theme for movies, and if there is a crossover of new fans as a result. Tarver feels there is, but he only sees Oscar De La Hoya benefiting from the crossover interest. [details]

This movie was Tarver' way of cashing in his chips. He's not going to be the star he was before.

It helps that Oscar is Mexican, speaks Spanish and English, attracts women, is very talented, fights good fighters, and doesn't lose 12 rounds to a 40+ year old guy moving up 2 weight classes.

Or need two times to beat Glen Johnson and Eric Harding.

When he was in the olympics they did a huge story on him and how he dedicated his medal to his mother who had just passed away . That was the start of it all . Next he was signed straight to HBO and became some what of a teen idol 'as far as the girls at least'. He just always had something that made people want to see him . No one has had a olympic hero story like his in years other the David Reid .
