...IMO Cooney was in control of that fight until the later rounds. He would have been leading on all the cards at the time of the stoppage if not for the low blow deductions. Holmes was in a tough fight with Cooney and was hurt bad a few times. I would not call that one utter domination.

Holmes beat Cooney for sure but I wouldn't call it schooling him. He hurt Holmes a few times in that fight. It has been a while but I believe that at the end of the second round, Holmes had to holding on to the ropes to steady himself after taking a huge body shot from Cooney. I also recall reding some interview with Holmes years after their fight and Holmes mentioned that Cooney was a lot better than most folks gave him credit for in their fight. That fight to me is not as one-sided as those other fights that you use in your examples.

Holmes vs. Cobb, now THAT was a schooling. That may have been the one Welter was thinking about.

And no Toney did not school Sam Peter. Depending on how you score fights, he may have beaten him (again I say Peter by a round or a draw but I don't get mad at people who had Toney ahead by a few rounds) but it wasn't by much.

The judges who had Peter ahead by many rounds were not being objective however. I may be the biggest Peter fan on this forum and had the fight equal going into the 12th, which Peter then won.
