Blue, when did you decide you wanted to Box? and why do you want to box???
I am a newbie and I want to box! for starters alot of people Say i should, and #2 I always wanted to do it but never anyone around to push me in the right direction! and now the internet is around so maybe people on forums can guide me?????
I am a small guy 5'8 128-130lbs and a 33inch reach.. i am also a left!, I am not sure if i have an advantage or a diss adavantage!!!??? some people say i do and some are just insecure and dont want me to become something better then themselves, like some of my so called friends!
my buddy and i actually just started working out in his home garage. just doing basics like working the heavy bag and mitts a little bit. before each workout we run for a mile or so. he actually used to attend a gym and he teaches me a bit that he learned from there a while back but i do however want to get the proper training so i think while doing these smaller workouts in his garage i will also eventually make time for the real deal.
Shadow boxing is good for balance, see if you can't go five or ten minutes initially. Make sure your weight is always centered, never off balance.
Snap those punches, no lazy puches, ever. And like someone else said step into em'.
Remember, it's in those legs; so see about a jumprope to keep you light on your feet. Strong legs (think Mike Tyson, Prince Naseem..) It never hurts to drive upward into the target bending those legs like a dead lift.
Punch about 2-4 feet through the target if ever possible.
Take er' ****in' head off! Do not go easy on that bag.. Pretend it's talking **** if nescessary..
Make sure the wife knows things are going to be a little different around there if she wants to "get smart." Show her Raging Bull if nescessary.
