If the ref reaches the count of ten and you are not on your feet then you lose. Gibbs started to get up after the ref said ten. End of the first round or not, Gibbs didn't get up in time.Comment

Against Willie Gibbs, a unknown prospect, that nobody knew but the HBO crew were in tears over losing saying he threw a lazy jab. I'm telling you, I watch boxing, I notice these things, same with daniel Jimenez. I said he was gonna face a unusal hard puncher, and he did. The American boy got knocked out, highlight reel style with one punch by another no name guy. 100s of Omar Ninos running around lolLast edited by IwatchBoxing; 12-16-2006, 11:24 PM.Comment

Actually if his knees and hands are off the canvas before the count of ten, he is up before the count of ten.
Like I said, I have to watch the replay. If he picked his knees off the canvas prior to the ref calling ten, he was up before ten. The minute his knees are up, the ref has to stop the count.
As said before, I think Gibbs also got confused by the first round bell and thought for a split second the fight was over, but then realized it wasnt when the ref continued the count.
Not that it makes a big difference because I expected Miranda to stop him within three rounds.Comment

All four guys tonight were unknown. People have no idea who any of the four guys tonight were. And, I personally know that very few boxing fans even stayed in on a Saturday night to watch Miranda/Litzau - both of whom are unknown by most, fight other guys who are even more unknown.Against Willie Gibbs, a unknown prospect, that nobody knew but the HBO crew were in tears over losing saying he threw a lazy jab. Litzau could have won. I have no idea why he let Hernandez hit him with the same right hand over and over and over again, until he cracked him.Comment

Litzau has been showcased on FNF many times.....i really think they are more known than what you think.......All four guys tonight were unknown. Known by who? Not the average boxing fan. People have no idea who Calzaghe even is in the United States, you think they know Litzau and Miranda?
What does a FNF showcase mean? It goes some TV exposure, but not much. The ratings ratio is not very high for those shows, because they are on Friday night, when most people are out. Compared to HBO, there is a very big distance in rating numbers in favor of HBO, and even Showtime.
I talk to average people about fights like Jermain Taylor and Kassim Ouma, and they think I'm from another planet. They never even heard of these guys, and if they did - they only saw them fight one time at most.
Ask Rick how he and Wladimir Klitschko hung out on streets of Manhattan for two hours, and thousands of people passed them without a single person stopping to speak to Klitschko, ask for an autograph, nothing. They passed by as if he was an unknown, and this was right before the Brock fight.Comment

Miranda is only a "fight of the year" condenter for a fight that ****** balls. All this could be traced to an actricle at Maxcrap entitled "the fight" where they single out a Puerto Rican prospect under the Cotto-Quintana card to do a whole page on him wanting to upset him, and it goes threw his whole life, what he ate for breakfest than images the PR guy has over powering him, and only if he could "hang in there". All up in arms for the underdog up until a favored fighter gets in the ring than its **** the underdog.Comment

Adverage people don't know who anybody in boxing is. Boxing is starting to look more and more like Wreslting. Prospects, are prospects, doesn't matter what channel, how many viewers or what if hes good hes good or not.Known by who? Not the average boxing fan. People have no idea who Calzaghe even is in the United States, you think they know Litzau and Miranda?

Yeah, sadly this is too true. I actually go on this site because I can't have a boxing conversation with many people. Even "Boxing Fans" only know the very very top champions.
Most people I know still dont know who Hatton, JMM, Calz, Ouma, Margarito. There just learning about PBF. At the PBF vs Zab fight I had to explain to everyone who it was that Zab had lost too. The Gatti fight did more for PBF's marketability than Castillo, Corrales, Zab and Baldomir combined.Comment
