Why cant Boxing have sudden death??

I just watched K1 or something for the first time...It was kind of gay but it was a draw and they went into overtime witch I thought was really cool. Why doesn't boxing have an over time? like from 1 to 3 more rounds to avoid split decisions? It would be a cool idea. I mean now a days you don't have to fight 15 rounders so so an extra 3 isn't gonna hurt every once in a while to get a winner out of a fight thats going as a draw... . Just a thought.

I always thought sudden death in a fighting sport was pretty cheesy. You sign a contract to fight 12 rounds, then that's what you fight.

yah but I mean you can sign a contract saying in the event of a draw...we will duke it out for 3 more rounds so there is no gay dicision. I dunno to me it sounds like a good idea.

It will take away from what we know to be the sport of boxing.

Just like video replays in football for rullings (soccer) sound wrong. It just takes away from the essence of the game.

I think it would be a good idea if they had one more round of sudden death if it was a draw but only in championship matches. Kinda like the NHL has shoot outs in the playoffs. Having Toney-Rahman and Taylor-Write end in a draw is boring for everyone.

I don't remember when exactly, but there used to be an extra round. If a fight ended in a draw, they would fight up to 3 more rounds. In the 80's.
I think it was Title fights only. Anyone else remember this?

Not in boxing rules. Toughman perhaps? Kickboxing?

No it was Boxing. I know that for a fact. It wasn't done for very long. 10 rounders, up to 13.
