There is plenty of prestige in winning the British title. In his last two fights Audley Harrison has wins over Greeley and Williams, therefore, is fighting for the heavyweight british title really a step backwards? I don't think so, i think it is a step in the right direction. Last i recall Scott Gammer was still unbeaten, and has fought practically the same level of fighter as Harrison e.g. I think he has beaten McCafferty, Francis, and has few a wins over Mark Krence.
Initially i'd have liked to see Harrison avenge his loss over Guinn, but i think he'll win the british title and aim to move upwards following that.Comment

i like to see fighters clear out some of the domestic opposition before going for world titles so i think this is a step in the right direction - audley definitely has the skills to win, but it fraudley turns up instead he could struggle against a determined (if limited) gammer.Comment

Like others have said, this isn't a step backwards. The old way to do it used to be British, Commonwealth, European, World Title. Harrison hasn't even done the first step on that ladder yet.
The only semi-decent names on his ledger so far are Danny Williams (L SD/TKO 3) and Dominic Guinn (L UD)Comment

AUdley Harrison has to accept that he is still a long way off a world title, considering he is not ranked by any of the major titles.
1.) Feb 2007-Beat undefeated Gammer for the British Title.
2.) Matt Skelton is fighting again at the earliest by April 2007 due to injury, so fight Skelton in April 2007 for the Commonwealth title.
3.) Then fight 2-3 fighters to get final title eliminator.
So he is about 15 months to go, on the condition he wins all his fights.Comment
