I dont think he will ever get a decision over TAylor
agreed and this has allready been proven,,,also a fight with calzaghe would be a way bigger fighter and more exciting than another fight with taylor to have a trilogy you usually need 2 fights that were foy type fight taylor and hopkins did not have that so i really don't think that a 3rd. fight would be that big.
Do we really want to see Taylor vs Hopkins 3? let the kid hav his titles and keep fightin good fighters out there, when was the last time u seen someone defend against 3 dangerous fighters 1 after another? Taylor is a good thing for boxing right now, hopkins should move to lightheavy, cruiser or heavyweight, hopefully heavyweight it would be amazing to see another 40+ beat a heavyweight guy n get the title lol
taylor has recently stated that he is staying at 160lb, hopkins dropping down to 160lb is a lot harder for him now since he packed on some weight to fight tarver. i think that hopkins fits into the 175lb divison, i think he looks good physically and is at a more natural weight for his age now.
fighting taylor again is a dead end, getting a decision over taylor is like hitting the lottery back to back, it just aint going to happen. hopkins had him beat clearly in their first fight and he got the shaft, the second fight flip a coin, draw or a draw really, nothing really happend that fight, but since i still considered hopkins the champ whenthat fight took place i'd say that he got the rounds where there was next to no action. ( i know people are going to have a field day with this, but who cares)
at this point i don't think that anyone will ever get a decision over taylor, he's almost the american version of joe calzaghe, only taylor has stepped up and fought guys that are in their prime or considered still in their prime.
there are a lot of fights that hopkins could make anyone from 175-heavyweight. heavyweight is a stretch but with his skill, hopkins could give anyone fits, that and he puts on and holds the weight better than Toney and has just as good defense, so i don't see any reason why hopkins could compete at heavyweight.
i would say that hopkins fight guys at 168 but if i was hopkins i'd tell those guys that they have to come up in weight to fight................
but fighting taylor again, no point at all in this fight, remember hopkins gave his blessing upon leaving middleweight to taylor and manny steward.
I am really suprised by the respones.........Now IMO obviously the fight would not be at 160.I mean Taylor is a fight or two at most from moving up thats pretty obvious unless his team intends to keep matching him with smaller guys that he still does not seem to beat clearly.I mean he whooped Ouma but how did he not KO him.......Winky has a great chin and D so thats understandable but Ouma took many huge shots from Taylor.Maybe he would be stronger at 168 or 175 someday but if he and Hopkins ever fought again it should be at 168 or 175........and I think that gives Hopkins a big advantage because he would stop Taylor..........he should have moved up years ago but wanted to cement his legacy.Tarver would beat Taylor IMO and Hopkins carved up Tarver at a more comfortable weight.Hopkins loses another close Decision at 160 vs Taylor but wins by stoppage or clear UD at 168 or 175 unless taylor is being held back fighting at 160 too.
no. His middleweight domination is at an end now. he should just look for the big fights and I think Taylor is one big fight he can't win as he would just get outworked and lose a decision.
if he was more aggresive with Jermain he would beat him.
Remember the first round of the rematch? Hop tried to pressing the fight at the end of the first round, and felt the weight of Taylor's counterpunches. He went back into his shell after that.
