I live in Scotland but I have followed Berto as much as possible through watching highlights and fights on several streaming sites and I have said for a few months that he has champion written all over him. He is being compared to Lacy alot but I doubt Lacy matches him for speed nor powere p4p and I woul love him to get over to the UK and fight the likes of Kevin Anderson and Michael Jennings and Young Muttley etc.....I believe he'd beat most of them but it would be great overseas experience for him and give him the chance to go up against(and get used to) a fairly hostil crowd aswell as the local fighters. Sometimes its better to get them used to hostile crowds while they are young. It can be beneficial in the future.

I dont see him staying at welter for too long either, he's huuuuge at the weight.

He was getting tagged too much IMO, good thing Figueroa can't punch.
He doesn't pack a punch and he's obviously is not a boxer who sets things up with the jab. All I'm saying is that I would like to see Berto in with someone who has better movement & ok power even if figueroa was a step up. Figueroas style was perfect fit for Andre. I know he's up & coming but that's when I'll be able to get a better judgement of Berto.

He doesn't pack a punch? What do you mean, you seen his KO ratio? I didn't see him jabbing that much, but I guess he didn't need to, dude was willing to trade with him while he had him in the ropes. He hit Figueroa with some very hard shots, Figueroa showed he can take a punch though. Berto has good stamina also, throwing hard shots constantly. I'd like to see him against better comp as well, seems they're bringing him up nicely, might be a future star.

Figueroa was game but he didn't have anything close to the tools needed to deal with Berto. However, there's plenty of fighters that have those tools and a lot more besides, and Berto can thank God he wasn't in with any of them.

Berto is aggressive even for a fighter. He constantly comes forward and lets his hands go looking for the knockout. That's great, but he's not without very visible flaws in the design of his style.

He leaves his hands low too often; uses the same movements coming forward - making his advances too easy to read and therefore, time; he displays far too little upper body movement and that will leave him open to headshots. Finally, it's clear that he's in love with his own power and was surprised when he was caught with punches by Figueroa.

Of course, Figueroa was chosen for the purpose of making Berto look good; it was a DiBella card after all, and Berto fights under that banner. Figueroa was catching every punch in the book even when he had his guard in place, which defies the purpose of putting your hands up at all.

Berto looks good, and will be entertaining for some time as they develop him on undercards for the next two years or so. Just don't bet the house on him if he fights a top welterweight after that.

Figueroa's history indicates clearly that he has more trouble engaging in pillowfights than facing big ****ers. 4 of his five defeats were to such powderpuffs as Joaquin Gallardo (5 stoppages in 17 wins, going in), Rogelio Castaneda Jr. (8 in 23 wins), Mambea Bakari (4 of 12) and Daniel Atah who was on his third fight at the time and dispatched both of his previous opponents before the full distance but subsequently managed to add only 6 more to his KO list after 29 fights for a current record of 8 KOs in 24 wins. The only ****ers Figueroa lost to were Berto and Casamayor. Only Casa stopped Figueroa before Berto did.

Figueroa did well against the bigger Julian Bufford who was undefeated going in and toted a record of 10 stoppages in 12 wins. Miguel stopped Bufford in the 7th. He also eked out a split D win over Israel Cardona whose current record shows that he stopped 28 opponents in his 36 victories. He KOd in three Alex Carillo Villa who now boasts of 14 KOs of 15 wins (although he has now 8 losses to go with those).

Figueroa has about twice the number of pro fights that Berto has. But like I said earlier, he was no big leap for Berto. Figueroa was just about right; having had only 15 fights going in, Berto is expected to go against the likes of Figueroa at that stage of his career. Figueroa was more of a step up the ladder than any kind of acid test. Four or five more fights against better and better opponents should either persuade or disappoint. It would be nice if it's the former because then, he could have his acid test.

Berto? yeah, I saw him the first time under Taylor Ouma bout. I found him to be a very good prospect, very good defense and packs power, but Figueroa somehow could take his punches, I thought after the first round the fight will not go after three.

Ok you guys may have misinterpret what I wrote. I was referring too Figueroa not Berto. I know Berto was setting things up with his jab & obviously packs a punch. I was surprised that Figueroa was still standing.
