amir kahn and the gullible british public

Khan thinks he will be a "World Champion" within a year. Now I have long jumped on the Ring Magazine Championship idea but I doubt he will win any of the legit alphabet belts. He will probaly win the WBU and give it the bigun over it.
I suspect that he is over hyped but time will, obviously, tell. My biggest problem with Khan is his "supporters". They incite trouble wherever he fights and when people stand up to them they run to the police and say that they are being racially abused. There was trouble at the Excel Centre on Saturday and in future fights I suspect that someone is going to get seriously hurt.
Khan should be forced to fight in small shows so his "supporters" get no or few tickets.Comment

well saidHe is clearly trying to become the next Naz imo(outside the ring anyway) but he lacks all the crudentials to be half as successful inside the ring.
He is running around actind like a super celeb (Naz did this when he was starting out)
He is claiming he will become the youngest champion (Naz did this)
He is still a novice yet claiming he is ready for a world title (Naz did this)
He is always quoted dedicating his fights to all the ******s in the UK (Naz did this, I also think that seems a bit disrespectful to the other 90% of boxing fans who follow him)
However.......Naz backed most of his claims up in the ring (until he started to get sloppy, sacking trainers etc) Khan will be lucky to reach Euro level and if the level of his opponents stays as bad as they are for too long then he might not even make it to a british title. OK he has only had 10 fights and is still very young but if there's one thing I've learned over the years, its never expect a Frank Warren fighter to fight a decent opponent unles its as a very last resort.

the added publicity raises expectations and pressure, which is why people are given licence to make hasty predictions about what the lad is going to accomplish! For ****s sake let him learn his trade!
Eventually he will have to fight higher class opponents that is obvious!
In my opinion, the added media/publicity, and public interest can sometimes be a burden for fighters trying to learn their trade, because they will always be open to criticism. In the cases of Khan and Audley Harrison they both had success in the amateur game including the Olympics so that added pressure also. After his Olympic gold success, Harrison was shrewd enough to negotiate his own 10 fight deal in the professional game, and this made him a millionaire, but also drew criticism. Fighters under a constant microscope will always be open to criticism.
Amir Khan is a talented fighter, who at 20 years of age, still has plenty to experience. He needs to progress, no doubt, but what fighter at the age of 20 doesn't? Give him a chance.Comment

Setting the record straight
1. The replays shows a punch graze him and his foot got stuck in the ropes and his glove hit the canvas. Ref apologized.
2.As soon as his glove hit the canvas he was back on his feet and came back with 3 piece then the ref stepped in.
3.Prior to this fight he only went to 6th round once in a decision, Drilzane (this weeks opponent)only landed good shots from 7th round on,plus Drilzane has fought at Welterweight and Amir is a natural lightweight. before that he was simply outclassing the guy.
4.Ive downloaded the Mayweather Career and seen some of his earlier fights, at this point of his career he had some mediocre showings when he could not stop the guy, although against much better opposition.
Not sugggesting he's anything like mayweather, but not exactly Bojado, Clearence Vinson, or Ricky Williams.Comment

I have seen him do it for sure but there was even once he spoke into the mic and said thankyou to all his ****** fans and bugger all to his other fans.
Naz was similar, in fact Naz got a little carried away with all the religion.
Before he fought Barrera he wanted to say a ****** prayer into the mic and I thought at the time, fair enough, but then I seen the documentary where he was saying to Michael Buffer that being able to say this prayer meant more to him than the fight itself.....kinda downgraded the sport.
Amir is perfectly withion his rights to dedicate his fights to, and thank all his ****** fans but he could at least thank the rest of his fans too....he is afterall british, and britain is not a ****** based nation.
I dont think it degrading because for every ****** religion is more important than anything and even if he loved it so much.
even for christians too could be said the same.Comment
