Maskaev retains WBC title!
By Alexey Sukachev at ringside
In a tactical, but crowd-pleasing way WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev (34-6, 26 KOs) easily retained his belt versus durable voluntary challenger Peter Okhello (18-5, 16 KOs) of Uganda via twelve-round unanimous decision. Defending champion scored a knockdown with a huge right uppercut in round ten and cruised to a wide decision on all three cards: 120-107, 120-107, 118-109. More to come...

Sensational Russian heavyweight prospect Alexander Povetkin (10-0, 8 KOs) kayoed former cruiser champion Imamu Mayfield (25-9-1, 18 KOs) in his most impressive fight to date. After a relatively slow first round, Povetkin rocked his opponent with a devastating right hook; then dropped him down to the canvas. Mayfield was able to beat the count and survive the round. In round three, the Russian fighter went toe-to-toe with his foe and rocked the American with the same shot and finished him off with the straight right for the count. Another spectacular performance for the 2004 Athens Olympics super heavyweight gold medalist.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rising cruiser Mikhail Nasyrov started impressively but was forced to go an 8-round against Canadian David Whittom. The Russian boxer faded visibly in late rounds and was deducted three points for continously spitting out his mouthpiece, however he cruised to a unanimous decision: 78-74, 78-74, 78-75. Nasyrov is now 17-0, 11 KOs, while Whittom drops to 7-3-1 with 4 KOs.

Russian middleweight prospect Dmitry Pirog (7-0, 6 KOs) scored a sensational first round TKO over faded American journeyman Rodrigues Moungo (12-13, 9 KOs).
