You're not too old ; you will just need to put more effort, work hard everyday.
Hopkins was a dominant boxer while he was 40 years old. If you take care of your body, you can have a really long career.
You might not be the next Floy Mayweather, but you could have a great pro career if you work hard.
Don't start by reading books and websites, start by going to a boxing club as soon as possible, and with that, read about boxing, nutrition, etc...
If you become serious about it, don't go to the pro too early, make sure to have a good amateur background. Here is what I would do if I was in your situation:
18 years old: 5 amateur fights
19: 10 amateur fights
20 : 10-15 amateur fights
21 : 15 amateur fights
22 : 15 amateur fights
23 : 15 amateur fights
24 : you turn pro
But remember, to be sucessfull by starting a career at 18y.o., you will need to take really care of your body : eat well, train 6 days a week, don't smoke anything, don't do drugs, don't drink alcool, sleep well with a constant schedule, etc... But don't put too much pressure, you need to see boxing as something fun!
All of this can be seen as some hard efforts, but the benefits will worth it : feeling good in your body, there's nothing better than starting a day after running for 30 minutes, you will have more energy, I find it easier to concentrate when I'm well trained.Comment
