Thanks for the good times, Danny. :(

You know, I've often heard Danny being called a "bum" on here, and a "bum" is something that I feel no boxer that steps through the ropes deserves to be called.

Read my signature quote from K-DOGG (his exact words, completely unchanged) for a reference on this. Not every man can be a world beater, a multi weight titlist or undisputed champ. But in many ways I'd much rather have a guy who fights at a lower, domestic level who engages in competitive, exciting fights and gives his all every time than someone who hides in the comfort zone of a undefeated record, or takes on outclassed opponents to delight in remaining a "world" champion. Naturally I like anyone who reaches the top and shows they have a right to be there - Ali is my favourite fighter of all time - but I'm just as likely to give love to someone who engages and seems a nice guy but can't get above domestic level. And is there anything intrinsically wrong with that?

The writing had been on the wall for some time for Daniel, coming in increasingly overweight and unmotivated, and famously stinking the joint out a year ago today when beating Harrison in their first bout. But let's relieve the good times. As well as being a fantastic shag, here's some of Danny's finest achievements that make him one of my favourite fighters:

    * Top of the list has to be KOing Mark Potter with his right shoulder dislocated. Is Mark Potter a world class opponent? No, he's not, but my boy KO'd him with ONE ARM. That shows GUTS.

    * NEVER being counted out. It's a well known fact that all of Danny's technical stoppages by ref have been because the refs have been worried that his chin will damage the opponent. Here's Jay Nady: "Danny, if I don't pull you out, the power of your chin will irrevocably damage Vitali's body with shockwaves". That's actual ****ing FACT, and months later Vitali announced his retirement. Sure, it was one-sided, but what about the HEART?

    * Beating a (admittedly shot) Mike Tyson. I don't wanna hear about the leg, it was Danny's night no matter what. Again, HEART.

    * Going into a total head**** in the summer and nearly losing to a journeyman being brought in to give him a warm-up. Let's be honest here - the Danny Williams Head**** is part of the glorious package that is my boy.

    * ****ing out Kali Meehan in 32 SECONDS.

One thing that was always world class about my boy was the POWER, which is one of the main reasons I loved him so much. Even Vitali paid him the compliment of moving out of the way. The potential of him being able to **** out anyone if he landed was always exciting to me. Sadly, he was always open to someone with reach and mobility. He had fast hands for a big man, but slow feet.

Lastly, there was always his catchphrase, "Humdilla, praise be to Allah!"

    I'll miss you, Danny.

Too bad Audleys knee didnt give out in the first round requiring major surgery. Danny just cant seem to get a break since the Tyson fight in which his reputation was built on. Danny will be missed for sure. In his prime he could beat any fighter in dire medical distress on any given night.

I like Danny, I really do, even when he was talking smack to Vitaly, you could tell he was a good guy, the kind that would give out gifts for x-mas to kids in his neighbourhood and help old ladies to carry groceries.

Wow, I wonder why you have a one-star rating and a bar of red? Could it be that you're a complete ****?

Of course, your post makes perfect sense seeing as I actually said in my thread that Danny was a world beater.

you know it, brother. Here's the conversation:

Big Klit - "Danny, it is stratigi that you have to pretend to talk smack to sell fights, you know?"

Danny - "okay then, just for you. Humdilla."
