    Question regarding boxing rules.

This is all theoretical, so don't think I'm asking this practically.

But is there a minimum weight that a fighter must be at in order to fight in a certain weight division.

    For example:

Say Fighter A wanted to fight in the Welter Weight division but only came in at say 139 pounds, would the fight be allowed?

So theoretically is there an ACTUAL rule that would prevent say, Ivan Calderon fighting a Heavyweight fight?

I think that applies only to championship bouts.

I don't think so, i might be wrong, but im remember seeing a few fights were a fighter came in a division lower or over and the fight was still on. But realisticly, i don't think we'd ever see say Caldron as you said, against a Heavyweight.

Back then, when there were only 8 boxing divisions, you had a lot of fighters, fighting lower or higher then the other fighter. Just look at Henry Armstrong, Champion in 3 divisions at the same time!

That is light for a light heavyweight fight. But Robinson the baddass he was wanted to take that challenge, great fighter was.
