    Just rewatched Clay-Liston I

Damn, what a fight. If you haven't seen it in awhile, you tend to lose focus on how great a performance it was, and just the atmosphere as well. Clay went in there and in the first round, just his movement was breath taking. Really, just his feints and posturing were something to behold. He opened up the flood gates only periodically, but Liston had nothing to offer in the interim. After the first round, Joe Louis, who was doing commentary, said straight up that they had just witnessed one of the greatest rounds in boxing history because of what Clay had just brought out of his hat.

Clay went into hibernation in the second, but in the third he was just tearing Liston to shreds. I mean really, he had buckled Liston several times and it looked like Liston was ready to go against the ropes. Clay would just take off entire rounds, but come back and open up with something that Liston couldn't bring back. And they weren't exaggerating when they said Liston was a big mother****er, that guy was huge.

When Liston quit in his corner after the 6th, Clay got up and just started doing the shuffle like you wouldn't believe. He went absolutely nuts, and it was as if the entire world had just been turned on it's head. He really did, as he said, "shake up the world."

That fight was absolutely magical, a must see for everyone. That fight should be covered in public school curriculums.

Clay took bombs when he was blinded, that was amazing.

Not sure how old Liston really was or how "Out of his Prime" he was, but he wasn't all that fast, at least not to do anything serious to Clay.

Clay/Ali was incredible how he was able to move like he did as a Heavyweight.

    Clay/Ali always had great instincts/intuition

He was listed as 31 at the time, but the popular belief seems to be that he was around 3-5 years older than that.

Liston was visibly past his peak. He was much slower than in his prime.
