    Quartey vs Wright thoughts

Of course, on this board, after Winky beat Quartey everyone started saying that Quartey was washed up anyways. I completly disagree with this.

I think it is a great win for Wright. This is the first time that Quartey was actually beaten. Some could argue that Quartey was undefeated coming into this fight... As well as catching some top p4p rank, probably top 5.

I didn't see an old Quartey, I saw his same style he used in the past. He still could give fighters a run for their money and I wouldn't mind seeing him fight again.

I believe that Wright should get quite a bit more credit for this fight. He is continuing to show how great he is even though he is getting quite old for a boxer.

I agree with everything you said.........Quartey looked great he just could not solve Winky and there is no shame in that Nobody else can either. The Quartey that fought Winky last Sat would have given Taylor fits with his aggresiveness and may have even beaten him with that style........which leads me to believe Ouma will give Taylor fits early but taylors power will just be too much when it is all said and done.Props to Winky and Quartey for giving us a very action packed good scrap.

I agree. Quartey will easily beat almost anyone from 154-160, he still has tons of stamina and that bazooka jab.

I had it a close, but clear 115-112 for Vargas. That's just me though.

Quartey is in his high 30's

Ur not washed up if u can throw that many punches in a fight.

            Quarteys output was great!

WRIGHTS output however, was outstanding. Hes in his mid 30's and still throwing like hes 20.

Both are eceptional athletes and are both still great fighters

Quartey has always been a crude boxer and only the slickest of the slickj can compete with Wright especially when giving up size. I honestly believe this was supposed to be a KO victory for Wright over a big name, and it shouyld have been. Ikes always had a weak chin and that was 2 weight classes down AND in his prime. The combination of Ikes lack of defense and Wrights precision and general ring skills should have equaled a KO within 5. Wright not only deserves no credit for winning this fight, he should be criticized for not getting Ike out of there.

har har? Is this guy serious?

                  Within 5 rounds?

I think Wright COULD have stopped Quartey, but it would have been in the later rounds and its nothing against WRIGHT that he didnt. He threw a record high punches for him.

Lol, i dont think this guy knows what hes talkin about... o wait, i SURE this guy doesnt know what hes talkin about

Its because you know very little about boxing, only what you'rer prograsmmed to know. Opponents are always chosen for a reason. On paper Wright had every advantage to score a KO. All you know is Quarteys name and thats all they WANT the genertal public to know. You obviously dont know it was the 90's when this guy held a title and that was at welterweight. You obviously didnt see this guy get dropped likke a cow patty by Oscar DLH and Jose Luis Lopez.

I can guarantee you Ike was chosen as an opponent because they thought they could get Winky a KO over a big name...and he should have. Since Im giving you free lessons here, I'll also inform you that while Boxing is not all about KO's...marketing is...and marketing is where everyone gets paid. Winky needed that KO and he blew it.

                    D+ performance.

You get an F for being a fair weathered fan of my sport. Beat it.
