I like Toney's optimism and I also think that the heavyweight is much more interesting with James Toney in it right now. However, I do think if James Toney is knocked out by Klitschko, Peter, or whoever, then I think that it might be a good time to call it a career before risking any serious life alterating injuries. Having said all that, his upcoming fight with Sam Peter should be one to watch and enjoy.
I like Toney as a villain. I hate to say it, but he really pisses me off to the point where I'd love to see him get KTFO. But in the same time, I respect him as a fighter and as another human being trying to make a buck.
Still, when someone puts themself on a pedastal like Toney does, it's human nature to want to see them get knocked off and land flat on their face.
Look at the condition he's in. I don't see how he can continue to fight better opposition if he's going to have that huge belly.
It's gonna be interesting to see what kind of shape he'll come into the Peter fight. Supposively, he's training with Billy Blanks the famous "tae-bo" instructor and hopefully will be in better shape for this fight.
No. If he beats Peter then he will win that HW title from Maskaev easily, and then he can defend 2 or 3 times and retire, what a career Toney has had, he is a living legend.
btw there were only 3 legends in this era, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones, and Jones is 2-0 against them, just a thought
