just cause he said it doesent make it true . For example ribalta reckons that smith hit harder than tyson but tubbs reckons tyson hit harder than smith. holmes reckons cooney hit harder than tyson but spinks reckons tyson hit harder than cooney . mccall reckons douglas hit harder than lewis and tyson but tyson reckons lewis hit harder than douglas . Fighters are also always contradicting themselves in who hit them the hardest. in one interview foreman said that lye hit him the hardest then in another he said cooney and in another he said morrison . ali has also contradicted himself in saying that shavers, foreman and cooper hit the hardest on three separate interviews. Its not all that easy for a heavyweight to know who is the hardest puncher because most heavyweight punches hurt like **** .

Ted Lowry said that Moore hit him the hardest, not that Moore hit harder than Marciano. In that interview he admits that Marciano never landed one serious punch to the head in the entire fight. Also keep in mind this 925 foot pounds punch is thrown at a stationary target with all of his power, not a moving human being who is defending themself and hitting back.Comment

Walcott (I): Walcott was getting tagged with heavy punches from the Rock, over and over again...Walcott did get stunned a couple of times, and seemed to lose his legs a bit, but he was taking shots flush...it wasn't until the shot that made Marciano famous that put Walcott down and out...if you look at that punch though Walcott was starting to throw his punch as Marciano was already throwing his.
LaStarza fights: Marciano was landing some great shots on him as well, but didn't take him out until the second fight...and these shots weren't all blocked punches, there were shots that were landing on Roland's skull.
Moore was knocked down and beaten badly, but the shots that were landing seemed to be flush, and seemed to have Marciano's full body behind it.Comment

None of the punches Marciano knocks Moore down with had near the same velocity and accuracy to them than the one that he hit Walcott with. It was difficult for the 5'10" Marciano to land that kind of punch on world caliber opposition who were at most ideal his height, but usually taller and almost always more mobile. That Walcott punch was Marciano's full power, and likely similar looking to the one he landed on the machine to register 925 foot pounds while wearing gloves.
One of the most important factors as to how "hurt" one gets from the punch is where it lands. You might get hit with a rocket of a punch but only stunned because it was a few inches off from the chin or jawline, or knocked down by a half assed looking punch because it was spot on.Last edited by Kid Achilles; 12-06-2006, 08:33 PM.Comment

Yeah, but look at the fights:
