Damn if those guys were hitting close to 1000 I wonder how much pressure Lewis would deliver with an overhand right. Because he was so much bigger than all of those guys.

Of course.. I wasn't arguing that at all.. You just seemed to find it very hard to believe that they had PSI "Technology" in the 1930's or whatever.. so I gave you an exapmle of this Mysterious technology ..

Rocky Marciano at 190 lbs or so wearing 12 oz gloves was tested hitting at 925 foot pounds.

If you're wondering just how much force 925 foot pounds is...

A 125 grain Semi-jacketed hollow-point bullet loaded for .357 magnum can deliver 427 foot pounds of energy at 50 yards, while a 124 grain jacketed hollow-point bullet loaded in 9mm Luger can deliver 291 foot pounds at 50 yards.
Obviously's Marciano's punches weren't as deadly as a .357 magnum handgun because that force was spread out over the surface area of his fist and not a hard bullet that could puncture vital organs, but that is still an insane number. The ballistics experts who tested Marciano were utterly shocked at the results. They could not believe it, especially considering that was a measurement done with 12 oz gloves, and not just bare fisted.

There were many great punchers who weighed below 200 lbs in boxing history that hit every bit as hard as their larger contemporaries.

In that interview I posted with the Old timer, didn't he say Marciano hit hard, but Archie Moore hit harder?

See, its really hard to tell who hits the hardest, if you are judging from the people who fought these guys.
I mean Moore could have landed some real good bombs while MArciano, was not as succesful in his punch output, or maybe one guy hit him so hard(a la Jackson), he immideatly blacked out

Yes, it is hard to tell sometimes.

I mean, if a guy gets a concussion, is he really going to remember the fight properly?

Or Just look at Tito vs Winky: Tito couldn't land anything that really had power behind it.

But, Moore did take some bombs from Marciano, and he said that Durelle hit him harder.

Agreed, although no one can deny that Moore was one of the most monstrous punchers the world has ever seen.

Maybe true, but I think your shape also has a lot to do with how well you take punishment, hence if you are in better shape, you can take punches better then in worse shape, although I can agree, there are many unknown "natural" punchers in this world that we have never heard about, guys who hit like a truck but lack in all other departments.

The number of fights he had, coupled with his ability to be in a great shape till the end were beyond amazing.
