Floyd has had a height and reach advantage in almost every fight he's ever had, especially early in his career at the lower weights. You're getting hung up on a few lbs. I'm speaking of his bone structure mainly. 147-154 is the proper range for a fighter with his frame, that's all I'm saying. DLH isn't going to be that much "bigger" in any way than Floyd where it will affect the outcome. I think anyone playing that card is barking up the wrong tree.
Size Matters: Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather

I cant wait for this fight man, PBF might not be able to move as much as he likes, ala DLH vs Sturm. And with the hand speed and punches of DLH, PBF could be in trouble on May 5th
I think PBF will win, but I would love to see DLH pull out the "W"Comment

Floyd will be on his bike running the whole fight coming in every now and than throwing pitty pat shots.Comment

U aint never seen Floyd run in a fight. he boxes and circles his opponent rather than stand stationery and trade. Circling and picking your shots is called boxing, the sweet science, not running. Running is what delahoya did in the last few rounds of the trinidad fight, he literally got into a back pedal and never circled him.Comment

I have to disagree with some of this. I think Oscar has more to gain than Floyd. I mean, if Floyd wins that means we probably saw a pretty boring fight, and it's Oscar at the twilight of his career, so the win (for Floyd) will definitley have an asterik attached to it with the fans and will probably not be that memorable, either. We've seen Oscar lose before. I mean, we've seen him win some that he lost, and lose some that he won. He's forgiven the off-nights because his career's level of competition is simply off-the-charts.... no other active fighter can even come close to matching it. And we all know he could turn in either performance, especially at this stage of his career.
Oscar's legacy can't really go down, it can only go up. And if he beats Floyd, then it's in the cosmos.
Floyd's legacy is a little tender, mainly due to the level of competition he's faced in recent years (which is not necessarily his fault). To compare DLH's career to Floyd's... he would've already had names like Hatton, Cotto, Tszyu, Margarito, etc on his resume (once again, not all his fault, just facts).
Obviously, I think a win over DLH obviously moves him up a rung, but then again, beating DLH in a wary, defensive manner (which is certainly how he will win, if he does) will probably not overly impress most fans or writers. We've seen Mosely stand toe-to-toe and trade with a prime DLH and win. We've even seen Sturm outbox DLH. I had Quartey beating DLH by a point. etc. I don't see a cautious win over this version of DLH as vaulting Mayweather into this mythic immortality as some others do. I think it obviously boosts him a little, yes, but it'll be more about "How would he have done against a prime DLH?" if Mayweather wins. And if Mayweather loses, then his level of competition is going to be re-examined by fans and writers alike, and Oscar will retire to a rose pedal parade.
Oh, and the size thing is neglible. Floyd and Oscar have always had large frames for the lower weights they started at. 147-154 is really the weight a fighter with the frame of Floyd should settle into.Comment

Its's funny how that is exactly what Oscar did to trinidad with the exception of the last two rounds he took off yet he was considered running, yet when Floyd does it it is considered boxing. I'm not saying he doesn't box, it's just funny to me how biased most Floyd fans are. He will not stand and fight Oscar he will circle and try to score points by throwing pitty pat shots.Comment

I have the fight and have watched it many times and it didn't happen after the secventh it didn't start til about the 10th more in the 11th and 12th, even with that he still won the majority of the rounds and should have still been given the decision. He pretty much swepth the first seven rounds, but it's done and over so whatever. Still at that point maybe my math is wrong but had he not won another round after that point 7 out of 12 is stilla mjority decision. Oscar didn't lose that fight Trinidad was given the decision, granted Oscar didn't help himseld the last couole rounds but it's the past. The real point is that Oscar boxed him during that fight and evryone wanted to say he rane yet when Floyd does it, it is considered a boxing exhibition.Comment
