    Urkal Ready For Miguel Cotto

WBA mandatory challenger Oktay Urkal is keen to clash with newly-crowned welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. The 36-year-old German (38-3, 12 KOs), a former European champion, expects to take on his undefeated opponent early next year. [details]

Urkal knows this is his last chance & I think he'll be in great shape for it.

He's an excellent boxer, great defence, very tough, & if he gets into his rhythm he'll be very hard to beat.

His biggest problem has always been his lack of power, but I think he can frustrate Cotto & pick him off enough that it will be very close
    - probably enough to win him a decision elsewhere, but not in Cotto's hometown.

nah man, perhaps the urkal of 4 or 5 years ago.......but he's about 37 now and been through some punishment also...

he's probably one of the greatest lt welter's not to be champion........a pity actually seeing that you have bums like Urango and Witter as champs today...

Urkal will be competitive for a few rounds then his corner will probably retire him in between round 5-8.

      Good luck to him though.

this guy has made a lot of money stepping aside, first hatton had to give him some money than cotto gave him some,
he's making decent money just not fighting,
and i guess he's a nice draw in his country. so if he were to fight cotto would it be out here in the states somewhere, or probably puerto rico...

Urkal has lately looked way past his best in his last couple of fights and struggled against poor competion. The Urkal that fought Tzsuy would have given Cotto a good fight but the present one will be ko'ed.

          Cotto KO 5

            Miguel's like "oh I'm scared".

No. Urkal doesn't have the type of arsenal to deal with this threat.

I hope "ready" means he'll have his body armor and helmet on.
