    Margarito vs Cotto

Forget Mayweather. He wants the biggest payday he can get and that's Oscar.

So the most intriguing fight right now is Margarito and Cotto. Cotto is the more rounded fighter of the two. But Margarito has a pretty good offense. Can his offense overcome Cott's defense? Can Cotto counter to the body of the longer armed Margarito?

Cotto has had the benefit of fighting taller fighter who fight small, like Quintana and people who stand in front of him. Margarito will be in front of him all night but he doesn't exactly fight small. I think he will use his physical attributes and angles to frustrate Cotto. But Cotto is a strong puncher as well and well defensed and great counter puncher.

    Let's hear your opinion.

margarito's been overhyped like we could barely believe. He got beat by Daniel Santos who got taken the distance by Takaloo for Christ's sake. Relatively easy win for a refreshed an energised Cotto at 147. I'd say Cotto in about 9...

So what? Roy went the distance with Lou Del Valle and David Telesco, two former top ten guys at 175. Takaloo at one time was in the top 10 as well in his weight class. Going the distance is something Santos does with regularity. You obviously did not watch the fight if you came away thinking Santos clearly beat Margarito (a fight held in Puerto Rico btw).

Margarito has not been overhyped. Most people have called him what he is. You have let a few of his fans (some rabid Mexicans) color your perception of what most people actually think about Margarito.

Margarito is what he is. He gets respect (not top ten p4p accolades, so stop whining) because he is a top 3 guy at 147 and has not lost at that weight in about 8 years. Clottey was undefeated aside from a DQ, so it is not some big deal that Margarito had a close fight with him after a ten month layoff.

Cotto vs Margarito is a bout made for fireworks. I see it as a 60-40 fight in favor of Margarito due to his ability to hurt and then finish Cotto.

Hmm...Cotto's chin has been in question in the past. But I think he was at 140 and starving.

Yer right though, like a shark, Margarito can finish his opponent if he senses blood. Make no mistake, Margarito will be Cotto's most dangerous opponent. And the same for Margarito.

I agree. At 147 Cotto's chin may very well be improved. Weight does have an affect for sure. But still I would say Margarito could hurt him pretty bad sooner or later in the fight. He has to stay away from Cotto's body attack though.
