It was reported by NZPA, that heavyweight veteran David Tua has turned down a fight with fellow New Zealand fighter Shane Cameron (17-0, 15KOs), who called Tua out for an early 2007 clash. [details]

For those who read the article, Tua is tentively scheduled to fight Robert Hawkins in January 2007. Hawkins a journeyman fighter, as you may recall, went the distance with Sam Peter shortly after his loss to Klitschko. If this news is correct, it's not a big step up for Tua but it's good to see that he's is fighting somewhat frequently and I hope that he continues this pace until he gets himself back in the mix. David Tua back in the mix should make things interesting. -
I hope the best for the Tua man but it's hard to stay excited about him when he's doing his slow comeback thing, gradually increasing his competition fight by fight. It probably is the smartest thing for him right now, but until I see him in with a top fifteen heavyweight I have a hard time taking this comeback seriously.Comment
