  • Why does Cotto ruin oppenents faces?

I just read in another thread where it says he is heavy handed? Anyone know any info on why that causes a face to be so beaten up? For example why is heavy handed more likely to cause damage then a strong puncher?

Cotto is not human. He is a terminator.

Cotto actually has a small fist. I remember Trinidad having a very big fist for his size and everyone said that was the source of his power. I think Cotto just gets good leverage and turns on his punches. That's why people get so messed up.

Quintana said after the fight that he expected Cotto to hit harder than he does but he was surprised at Cotto's handspeed. Maybe the quickness has something to do with it.

So did he expect to be stopped in 3 rounds and not 5?

I don't mean to bring you all back to school, but the answer is very simple,

                It's simply physics:

When determining the force of something (a punch), the MASS of the object moving (a fist), is usually the dominant factor in determining how much power can be generated.

Simply because the time intervals in handspeeds between two fighters, measured at such a SHORT distance (like a punch) are usually not sufficient enough to overcome a significant hand weight advantage that fighters have, like George Foreman for instance.

Cotto hits hard because primarly he has heavy hands.

he chops with his punches like all great 2 handed punchers and hes a converted southpaw.. but hes not converted just to put his strong hand in the front which its becuase the alighnment of his body to punch harder a more natural chop motion with both hands.. i was impressed nice short punches ..
